To my Western colleagues who more than a year after the start of the war continue to demand understanding towards Putin and his regime I would like to ask a very simple question. Would you like to live in a country where there is no free press or independent courts In a country where the police have the right to enter your home without a warrant In a country where museum buildings and collections accumulated over decades are handed over to churches without the threat of losing unique works matter In a country where schools abandon the study of science and plan to abolish the teaching of foreign languages but teach lessons on what is important in which children are taught to write complaints and hate everyone the other towns In a country that broadcasts daily calls on television to destroy Paris London and Warsaw with a nuclear attack Really I dont think they wanted it. In Russia we dont want to live like this either.
We resist or at least we try to preserve our convictions and principles based on Russia Mobile Number List humanistic tradition of Russian culture. And when we read on the Internet a new call to understand Putin or to meet halfway this is perceived in Russia as complicity with the criminals who are oppressing and ruining our country. These calls are based on a deep almost racist contempt for the Russian people for whom according to progressive pacifists in the West it is perfectly natural and acceptable to live under the rule of a corrupt dictatorship. Of course when someone says that Putins regime is a threat to the West or to humanity as a whole this is a meaningless statement. The people for whom this regime represents the most terrible threat are apart from the Ukrainians who are bombarded daily with shells and missiles the Russians themselves their people and their culture their future.
It is evident that Putin and the system he leads have changed in recent years those same people in the mids could seem decent compared to other politicians around the world. Of course they applied the same antisocial policies lied in the same way tried to manipulate public opinion just like their Western counterparts. But the crisis that has lasted for three years now the war and total corruption have caused irreversible changes in which the preservation of the existing political regime has proven to be incompatible not only with human rights and democratic freedoms but simply with the preservation basic rules of modern civilized existence for the majority of the population.
